December 21 marks the Dongzhi Festival or Winter Solstice Festival. It is one of the major festivals celebrated by Chinese and people from other East Asian cultures. Sanmen County in East China’s Zhejiang Province has very unique traditions to celebrate the day. The festivities in this small village in Sanmen County date back over 700 years.
