Location
The Sidney B. Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre is located in Mt. Tamalpais just north of San Francisco. The stone seating was put in place in 1933.
In 1967 the amphitheatre played host to what is generally considered the first outdoor rock festival, the KFRC Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Festival on June 10 and 11, 1967. Over 36,000 people attended the fest featuring top acts from the time such as The Doors, The Byrds, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, Country Joe and a host of others.
Today the site is used for an annual play in the spring.
