A mostly-forgotten large festival from the same group of promoters who put on the 1970 Atlanta Pop Festival, the New Orleans Pop Festival, and the Toronto Rock & Roll Revival. The festival was planned to be an eight day event in rural Louisiana, but the promoters fell short on talent, money and organizational skills. The result was a fiasco that was delayed for three days and was significantly lacking in basic amenities (food, water and medical facilities) for the approximately 60,000 that did attend. It was a poorly organized event that delivered only a fraction of the bands that were originally billed. The festival shut down after its third day.

The spirit of celebration is man. His relationship with nature and his fellow man. A large spiritual center will be established at Celebration of Life. Teachers from all over the world are being invited to participate. A seminar of holy leaders will consider the topic "How to raise the level of consciousness in our society". Meditation tents, sitar jams, chanting, exercises, and special programs every sunrise will be offered for all who are interested. Let Celebration of Life be a time for you to learn about yourself and your environment.

Location
A 500-acre soybean plantation. The organizers failed to nail down a location before marketing the event, and it had to be re-located several times at the last minute.
McCrea, a small crossroads town situated along the Atchafalaya River, which has famously dangerous currents that likely played a role in the drowning deaths of several visitors.
